Dong-A ST (Vice Chairman Kang Soo-hyoung) announced on December 26 that it would hold the ‘1st Dong-A ST Open Innovation Research Project’ contest in a bid to strengthen open-minded cooperation between industry and academia.

The contest is expected to create a synergistic effect between support for creative basic research and Dong-A ST’s research and development of innovative drugs.

The contest of fields is basic research in cancer immunotherapy and an expansion study of the indications of Dong-A’s products. Professors and researchers from universities and hospitals in Korea are eligible to enter the contest.

The deadline for the submission of research proposals will open on January 22 (Mon) and end at 6:00PM on February 2 (Fri). Applicants should fill out the forms for the research proposal and plan after downloading them from the pop-up window of the official website of Dong-A ST (http://www.donga-st.com) and submit them via email (openinnovation@donga.co.kr).

Proposals will be selected after the first and second screenings, and the final selection will be announced in March 2018. Dong-A ST will provide the research funds for the selected project for one to two years.

An official from Dong-A ST said, “We will actively support domestic researchers’ research in a better environment and create R&D synergies with academia. We hope that researchers with excellent competence will be interested in participating in this contest.”
