On November 1, Dong-A ST (Chairman Eom Dae-sig) announced the release of the Dutavan Plus Tab. for the treatment of hair loss and benign prostatic hyperplasia.

Dutavan Plus is a tablet formulation of the Avodart Soft Cap., a treatment for hair loss and benign prostatic hyperplasia. Its low stickiness makes it suitable for storage, and it undergoes almost no change in its appearance due to softening and hardening of the capsule shell, which makes it easy to swallow. In addition, there is no leakage of liquid content due to capsule shell rupture and little delay in disintegration due to gelatin crosslinking.

Dutavan Plus Tab.’s indications include the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia, the reduction of acute ischuria risk, the reduction of the need for surgery related to benign prostatic hyperplasia, and the treatment of androgenetic alopecia in adult males (aged 18 ~50). The recommended dosage is one tablet per day.

Dutasteride, the active ingredient of the Dutavan Plus Tab., is a 5-alpha-reductase type 1 and 2 inhibitor involved in the production of the male hormone dihydrotestosterone (DHT). It not only improves urinary disorders caused by benign prostatic hyperplasia but also has the effect of reducing sudden urinary symptoms like acute urethritis as well as preventing or mitigating hair loss.
