- Zydena enters Russia, backed by its safety and strong efficacy confirmed in the Korean market



Zydena, an erectile dysfunction drug in-house developed by Dong-A Pharmaceutical, was recently launched
in Russia.



Russians can now purchase Zydena at their local pharmacies. Dong-A and its local partner, Valenta, actively
seek to tackle the Russian market by touting the drug’s safety and outstanding efficacy. The brand name,
Zyneda, will be used in Russian letters as Зидена and pronounced as /zidena/.



The erectile dysfunction drug market in Russia is estimated at $127 million annually (as of 2008) and is
expanding at an annual rate of over 30%. Zydena is expected to come up against stiff resistance from such
multinational competitors as Viagra (Pfizer), Cialis (Lilly), and Levitra (Bayer), which currently account for
about 80% of the Russian market.



Prior to the launch of Zydena in Russia, Dong-A held a medical presentation on the drug on April 8 at the
Russian National Congress, “Humans and Drugs,” held in Moscow April 6-10, 2009. During the session, YU
Mu-hui, head of Dong-A’s research center and a Russian medical doctor, gave presentations on Zydena’s
safety and remarkable efficacies, including its erectility-related efficacy, deeply impressing more than 1,000
Russian medical doctors in attendance.



On October 15, 2007 in Moscow, Dong-A and Valenta had signed an agreement by which Dong-A would export
$50 million worth of Zydena over five years. Valenta (formerly OTECHESTVENNYE JSC) is one of the largest
